I installed a different internal drive and got an error cloning to that. Acronis will not, in my understanding, write to bad sectors of a drive because it checks the sector before it writes to it. I want to at least get everything back to the way it was before I try that, but I'm certainly open to suggestions. Both chkdsks will modify the drive partition table - it is a shared object - but they will handle it differently so there is risk here of further corruption. Thanks again- -Susan.
